Dancers in the Dark

My current work looks at London’s built environment and the absence or presence of people in that space as forms expressed in both black and white and colour.

These pieces are part of a series based on my fascination with the streets of Covent Garden and with the people moving through them with their shopping bags, phones, vaps and drinks, strangers and locals alike. Taking the people out of the streets leaves spaces behind like the hollows left in the lava by the people of Pompeii. Those people, their size in the same proportion to each other as in the street scenes, are then seen in a uniform dark space. Walking in London we are all anonymous, all dancers in the dark.
